I have heard you just use machines - true?
Absolutely not! In some cases Chartered Physiotherapists may use pain relieving modalities such as TENS, ultrasound and interferential. Other modalities such as heat and ice packs can be used in certain circumstances. However the bulk of our practice is dedicated to truly physical therapy, ie, to the use of techniques and exercises that will ultimately be performed by the patient themselves to take back control of their bodies.
We base our practice on best evidence based guidelines, not on treatment fads or fashions which have no basis in science. And we do not allow our patients to become dependent on wholly passive treatments, whether electrotherapy or massage. We’re tough on our patients and make them take responsibility for themselves!
