What do you actually do?
These are just a few some of the techniques that we use:
- Joint mobilisations: This can range from low amplitude for pain relief to high amplitude where a joint is manipulated, usually with a click. These techniques are useful for pain relief and for restoring normal range of motion to a joint.
- Resistance training: Exercises used in this type of training can range from gentle finger exercises to olympic style weightlifting, depending on the problem and the patient.
- Myofascial release: This includes a wide range of manual techniques which help to reduce tension and thickening in soft tissues.
- Balance training: This can range from learning how to stand on one leg after surgery to doing high intensity sports specific balance challenge exercises.
