Professional Indemnity Insurance
As Chartered Physiotherapists we have professional indemnity insurance and we work under strict clinical guidelines within our scope of practice. This protects both the patient and the clinician. Some other so called physios may have insurance or they may not. Do you know this when you trust your body to them? You should.
The other issue of concern is that professional indemnity insurance is usually only valid when treatments are within the scope of practice of the clinician. Some extravagant and outrageous claims are made by various "therapists" that are not within the scope of practice of anything short of the Almighty himself. Do you want to be the one to find out that insurance cover has vanished when the questionable technique used on you went wrong?
